Our Story

Older Than Most Hangovers. Louder Than Most Opinions. Welcome to Becketts.

Becketts Irish Bar & Restaurant isn’t just another Irish pub in Budapest — it’s one of the city’s longest-standing independent bars, and it’s seen everything. Opened decades ago, Becketts has survived changing governments, changing trends, and more Guinness than we care to count. At one point, people even thought we were an IRA pub… which, weirdly, worked in our favour.

“Great bar with lovely atmosphere and most importantly- a great pint of Guinness. Food options were nice too - we had some chicken tenders which were very nice. Hot chocolate was good too!
